Divorce/Separation/Financial Settlements

If the separation/divorce is amicable and you have discussed and agreed matters between yourself and your spouse we can help to make it legally binding by drawing up an Agreement which can be signed by both parties.

Also, following separation/divorce, it is important that arrangements are put in place for the children of the family. We will make sure that the children’s best interests are taken into account and that your rights as a parent are upheld.

The work will be done by the firm’s Principal (see Home page).

Our fixed charges for acting on your behalf in relation to matrimonial law are:- £1,500.

The above fee is based on a straight forward matrimonial without complex financial issues.

If, however, additional steps need to be taken or if the matter becomes more complicated e.g. matters are not agreed between yourself and your spouse our costs may exceed the figure shown above. If this is the case we will advise you on the estimated additional costs as soon as we become aware of any problem that arises.

The charges set out above are subject to VAT which is currently at the rate of 20%.

Disbursements in relation to matrimonial law

If you are the person issuing divorce proceedings there will be, in addition to the above mentioned costs, Disbursements payable e.g. Petition fee, Consent Application fee. We will keep you updated on expenses throughout the matter that we undertake for you and let you know in advance what the expenses are likely to be.

Prenuptial agreements

A Prenuptial Agreement, commonly referred to as a Pre-nup, is a written contract you and your spouse enter into before getting legally married. It details exactly what happens to finances and assets during your marriage and, of course, in the event of divorce.

The work will be done by the firm’s Principal (see Home page).

Our fixed charges for acting on your behalf in relation to preparing a Prenuptial Agreement is:- £750.

The above fee is based on a straight forward Prenuptial Agreement.

If, however, additional steps need to be taken or if the matter becomes more complicated e.g. it takes longer than expected to agree matters, our costs may exceed the figure shown above. If this is the case we will advise you on the estimated additional costs as soon as we become aware of any problem that arises.

Proceedings in relation to children

If you have any issues in relation to proceedings involving a child/children we can offer advice in respect of making an application to the Court for a specific Order if necessary. We also offer advice in respect of emergency applications that may be required in order to safeguard a child/children.

If thereafter a matter does proceed to Court separate and additional charges will apply depending upon the nature of your instructions and a willingness to compromise on the part of both parties.

If this is the case we will advise you on the estimated additional costs as soon as we become aware of any problem that arises.
